Improving Polyester Geotextile Materials

Polyester filament geotextiles are made with high-strength, low-stretch industrial filaments. Key performance indicators are impact resistance and tensile strength. For optimal performance, these filaments need high tensile strength and resistance to deformation. The strength at 5% elongation measures their performance.

1. Problems with Traditional Polyester Filament Geotextiles

Traditional polyester filament geotextiles have issues. High-strength, low-stretch filaments have too much elongation and low strength at 5% elongation. It results in poor material performance.

2. Solution

To address this, our customers have improved the production process of these filaments.

  • Redesigned Cooling System

During spinning, the cooling system was redesigned. It is used to optimize stress distribution and avoid stress concentration. This ensures fiber uniformity and stability.

  • Upgraded Stretching Equipment

During the fiber stretching and shaping stage, the equipment was upgraded to quickly fix a highly oriented crystal structure. This significantly improves the fiber’s strength and stability.

These upgrades increased the strength at 5% elongation by over 30%, putting us at the forefront of the industry. This breakthrough improves overall performance. But also it provides customers with more competitive products. Moreover, it expands the applications of geotextile materials.

3. Type of Polyester Chips Used

Polyester filament geotextiles require high-strength, high-viscosity polyester chips. Key characteristics include:

  • High-Viscosity Polyester Chips

High-viscosity chips ensure sufficient strength and durability. They form stronger filaments during spinning.

  • High Strength

The chips must produce filaments that withstand various mechanical stresses. It ensures durability and load-bearing capacity.

  • Good Thermal Stability

The filaments undergo heat treatment, so the chips must resist degradation at high temperatures.

  • Good Flowability

Good melt flowability ensures smooth spinning, allowing the polyester melt to flow and shape evenly.

  • Moderate Crystallinity

It ensures good formability and mechanical properties during spinning. Besides, it improves good physical properties during use.

  • UV and Aging Resistance

The chips must resist UV radiation and aging to prevent degradation over time, as geotextiles are often used outdoors.

Our company will continue to innovate and improve product quality. We will provide high-quality industrial material solutions for more customers.
